General description and the regional economy of tarakan city

As a small island surrounded by sea, Tarakan has the potential of such a large marine. These resources have been utilized by most communities to make a living as fishermen and shrimp farmers. This abundance of seafood consumed by the local community in addition, most (especially shrimp) has been used as commodity exports by some employers through their Cold Storage. The economy of East Kalimantan in the first quarter-2010 is expected to experience positive growth, with an estimated growth rate ranged from 3.5% sd 4.5% (y-o-y). One indicator that the direction of positive growth can be seen from the Consumer Survey (SK) conducted by Bank Indonesia Samarinda in January 2010 which the Consumer Expectation Index (IEK), which is still above the level of optimism (100), that is equal to 135. This is influenced by the IEK components which are all located above the level of optimism
